Update on Col

Hi All,

Vanda here to provide an update on Colin's battle.

As you were made aware by Col on his last blogg he suffered what is classed as a Grand Mal seizure on 27th Feb following the gig. We were hopeful that this was a 'one off', this past sunday he suffered a third in the early hours.
He was switched from oral therapy to a syringe driver on Monday and has been sedated to prevent another seizure happening.
Today he seems comfortable and is resting peacefully. This guy is amazing and a true fighter!

Sorry to thos of you who have been trying to make contact , either by email, phone or the blog. As Col's full time carer it is difficult for me to keep up with the overwhelming number of kind thoughts and wishes being sent, however I can reassure you all that I do make Col aware of all the well wishes and will do my best to keep you aware of events, though as you can imagine I have rather a lot to manage at the moment so please allow me time to respond when I can.

All for now
Vanda

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
RIP Col Adele xx

Dear Vanda, pointless to talk of regrets, when so much is genuinely regretted, but often without basis, anger of what has gone undone may support for a little , disbelief provides oasis of peace in an unreal world, denial, the only thing to sustain is your genuine, uncompromising love, how brave you have been and that you have always done your best and then some NL

Col and I were together once in Budapest at a HP event. In the warm eve we walked around the old Castle District on the hill and had a beer overlooking the Danube. He chatted about all sorts and I enjoyed his light spirit and love for life. We had a great meal in an old upscale restaurant, watching and listening to tradionational and very attracive musicians and dancers in Hungarian costume. The Bull's blood wine was a delight.
I know he enjoyed that evening as much a I did.
For the little I knew Colin compared to some of you, he'll remain one of the nicest and sincerest blokes I have met and I'm glad that I did and was able to share that one page of his life

We can't be but inspired by such a brave fight.

Never bemoaning his misfortune, I can recall only his strong desire to enjoy the gift of life till the very latest moment...an example for all of us.

RIP Col

Colin requested that rather than bringing flowers to his funeral that contributions were given to Cancer Research UK. I understand that a collection will be made at the funeral, but online donations can also be made here:

Ta ta Colin. I'll miss you. Martin x
